Basquia Cree Territory: West of northern Lake Winnipeg, especially the Saskatchewan River delta and the Pas region.

The Basquia Cree were severely decimated by the smallpox epidemic of 1781. Nevertheless, they survived. In the years that followed, West Mushkegowuk and Saulteaux flooded in from the east and merged with the survivors. So great were the numbers of these newcomers that a new general identity was formed.
