Sturgeon Cree Territory: From west of central Lake Winnipeg across in Saskatchewan.

Sturgeon Cree Divisions: Sturgeon and Cowintou.

The Sturgeon Cree were decimated by the smallpox epidemic of 1781. Subsequently, West Mushkegowuk migrated into their territory from the east and merged with the survivors to form a new identity, Plains Cree.
